Ben Benjamin: Superbad:1997
The Superbad site created by Ben Benjamin is an innovative ever-changing art project that became a piece of art simply by mistake. The main intent of the Superbad site was originally to test the web design for technology corporations. Ben has said that "he didn't really start thinking of Superbad as art until the art people started finding it[1]." So now that the site has come into the eyes of the web art world, Ben Benjamin is using Superbad as a highly interactive work of art with really no purpose behind it other than being art. The Superbad site represents the Internet itself with its unpredictability and constant change. So far Ben has created approximately one hundred and forty-three pages and they just keep on coming. Every day Ben changes the home page adding to the constantly growing number of pages. The Superbad site now consists of a maze of interlinked pages which call on the viewer's interaction to click on a page to link to a maze of other interlinked sub pages linked to that page. Ben Benjamin's Superbad site is a visually and conceptually appealing work of web art which stands true to the basic concept of the internet.
